Tomada de Constantinopla
No dia 29 de maio de 1453, os turcos otomanos, comandados pelo califa Maomé II, tomaram a cidade de Constantinopla, hoje Istambul, na Turquia. O acontecimento marcou o fim do Império Romano e o início da Era Moderna. Com a conquista, os turcos bloquearam as milenares rotas de comércio entre a Europa e o Oriente.
