Com C. Westerwelt, Boeing fundou em 1916 a empresa que tem seu nome e que acabou se transformando numa das maiores da construção aeronáutica e espacial do mundo. O aparelho para uso civil mais conhecido da empresa, produzido nas oficinas de Seattle, no Estado de Washington, é o Boeing 747 Jumbojet, com capacidade para quase 500 passageiros e feito para grandes trajetos. Outro dos modelos da Boeing é o bombardeiro B52. Depois da fusão com a McDonnell-Douglas em 1997, o consórcio domina mais de dois terços do mercado mundial da aviação civil.
