Tive outrora uma doce ilusão, filha do céu
Tudo eu doava, tudo eu perdia pelo amor…
Sem força, às vezes sem brilho, no labéu,
Estendido no chão, de longe o triste clamor.
Era uma doce ilusão, sem ter recompensa;
Um escravo, sem que tivesse um guia…
Um vazio na alma como uma sentença,
Desprezado sem amor, sem ter alegria.
A falta de afago em mim batia fundo
Oprimido, nem sabia mais o que fazer.
A mágoa crescia, um sentimento profundo
Um esforço eu fazia para não morrer.
Momentos eu vivi de ilusão na vida,
Parecia estar bem perto a felicidade;
Era uma doce ilusão que me dava guarida
Cedo descobri que nem tudo é verdade.
